Sheikh Nazim Al-Haqqani Kibrisi's stance on Imam Mahdi in the light of Ahadith

Before I commence, let me inform the readers that I am not at all against Sufis and spiritual leaders of the Sufis. Infact, I also belong to Naqshbandi Silsilah and consider myself servants of Awliyah (The real ones).
This is a fact that in current times, the Fitnah is everywhere and dangerous, trying to eat all of us with mouth opened. In today's case, it is our duty to stay alert and never fall in the trap of anyone. In the past few years, I have observed that many people are falling in the trap of false Sufis which has spoiled the good name of the real Sufis.
Since past few decades a name has emerged which has gained more fame recently on the internet by the name of "Sultan ul Awliyah" a very spiritual personality from Turkey "Shaikh Nazim Al-Haqqani Kibrisi" who has millions of fans worldwide. Many of his videos can be seen over the internet. I have observed that his favourite topic is Al-Mahdi and he is one of those people who are anxiously waiting for the arrival of Imam Al-Mahdi. In couple of his videos, Shaikh Nazim Kibrisi claims that Imam Mahdi's appearance has already happened (as he seen in his spiritual form) but this appearance is not for public.
I don't have any personal problem with this Shaikh because as I already mentioned, I am one of the servants of Awliyahs. The reason I am writing this article is to let people know what I found "Strange" in the wording of Shaikh Nazim Kibrisi".
Last year (2011) after the Hajj, Shaikh Nazim spoke some very interesting and amazing words (video link below). You can see how much spiritual it appears to be and everyone can be immensely influenced towards his words. I was also about to believe but Al-Hamdulillah I have the Guidance of Ahadith of Prophet Mohammad S.A.W which makes me believe that this Shaikh don't have the type of spirituality he claims to be or people think of him to be (I say this with all due respect).
Following are some excerpts from his interview about his "spiritual meeting" in 2011:

Now hold on a minute! Shaikh Nazim's words "Mahdi has declared his appearance" hits the mind like anything and immediately a narration comes into mind. Ahadith of The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم clearly explain that Imam Mahdi will NOT declare his appearance and will NOT claim to be the Mahdi.
Umm Salamah رضي الله عنها narrated: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
"Disagreement will occur upon the death of a Caliph and a man of the people of Medina will flee to Mecca. Some of the people of Mecca will come to him, bring him out against his will and make him accept their Bay'a (being chosen as a leader) (at a location) between the Rukn (corner of the Ka'ba containing the Black Stone) and the Maqam (Place) of Abraham (located on a side of the Ka'ba). An army from the people of AshSham (Greater Syria) will then be sent against him, but Khusf (land collapse) will happen to them (they will die) in the Baidaa (desert) between Mecca and Medina. When the people see this, the Abdal (pious eminent individuals) of Syria and the Asa'ib (pious individuals) of the people of Iraq will come to him and offer him Bay'a (accept his leadership) between the Rukn and the Maqam. A man from Quraish tribe , whose maternal uncles are from Kalb tribe, will arise and send against them (against the Mahdi & his supporters) an army which they (the Mahdi & his supporters) will overcome. That army will be made up of Kalb tribe. Whoever does not witness the spoils of (this battle with) Kalb tribe will be disappointed (because treasures will be found, according to some narration). He (the Mahdi) will divide (distribute) money (wealth), and will govern the people according to the Sunnah of their Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and establish Islam on Earth. He will remain seven years, then die, and the Muslims will pray over him." (Abu Dawud)
Above Hadith clear enough to understand the complete scenario and what Shaikh Nazim speaks of is totally against this Hadith. Ahadith clearly explain that Imam Mahdi will escape back to Madinah in order to avoid what people are asking him to do for them (i.e. Bai'ah/pledge or oath of allegiance).
The second line of Shaikh Nazim that strikes my mind is:
Above Hadith also explains the meeting and Bai'ah of saints of the world who will come to Imam Mahdi. Abdaal and Asa'ibs of Ash-Shaam and Iraq will come and accept his leadership AFTER the Land Collapse in Maqam-e-Bedaa (not at all before it) so Shaikh Nazim is incorrect in this regard here as well.
Allamah Ibn Kathir in the explanation of this hadith writes: “Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) through His special favour will reveal to him his station of which he was hitherto (up till that point) unaware.” [Al-Bidayah wa Nihaya fil Fitn wal Malahim]
Thus, Imam Mahdi will himself not be aware beforehand what rank Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) has reserved for him and what his place in history and future is to be. Prior to being given the pledge of Khilafat (against his will) he will not claim the title of Mahdi for himself, nor will he know that he is the chosen one.
Very recently, Former Pakistani President General (R) Pervaiz Musharraf did bai'yah on the hands of Sheikh Nazim Kibrisi. What Shaikh Nazim said to him are very strange and amazing words which Pervaiz Musharraf does not at all deserve. Pervaiz Musharraf was among the front line against the army of Imam Mahdi (Black Flags of Khorasan) and has done too much damage to Islam and Mujahideen. To say that Allah can guide and forgive whom He wills is absolutely correct. However, on the Day of Judgement, when the court is set, will the people he has sold and their families who have been grieved forgive him?
The most amazing and surprising statement to me is:
Maulana: from the insha-Allah deputies of Mahdi (as). your power can reach, whereever it can reach it will reach. alhamdulillah you never harmed anyone up to now, you are clean.
Can any objective and neutral person make such a claim? Pervez Musharraf writes in his own book (In the Line of Fire) that he sold people for as low as $4,000. For the Huqooq al-Allah, Allah can forgive him for any sin but for Huqooqul Ibaad, will not Allah ask the people he has caused harm to for their forgiving of Musharraf. Will not Allah ask the families of the people he has sold whether they forgive Musharraf. These are just few of the crimes; if I start writing, I can write a whole book of his crimes.
Maulana said to Musharraf: I am the poor one, I have nothing, no power. but my heart is full of love of the Seal of the Prophet (s) and love of His Family and the love of Sayyidina al-Mahdi and he will come and then he will defeat the Anti-Christ that thinks he is undefeatable, but he will defeat him.
Here Maulana Nazim Kibrisi is wrong again. According to Hadith, Hazrat Eisa (a.s) will defeat Dajjal not the Mahdi.
Saheeh Muslim Book 041, Number 6924:
Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: ... Satan would cry: The Dajjal has taken your place among your family. They would then come out, but it would be of no avail. And when they would come to Syria, he would come out while they would be still preparing themselves for battle drawing up the ranks. Certainly, the time of prayer shall come and then Jesus (peace be upon him) son of Mary would descend and would lead them in prayer. When the enemy of Allah would see him, it would (disappear) just as the salt dissolves itself in water and if he (Jesus) were not to confront them at all, even then it would dissolve completely, but Allah would kill them by his hand and he would show them their blood on his lance (the lance of Jesus Christ).
In one Interview, Shaikh Nazim claims that Only 70 Years are remaining for the Judgement day. He said:
"The Owner of Time is soon insha’Allah. The time for the coming of the Owner of Time is soon. The world will change. He is coming. We are getting closer to the Day of Judgment. Our Prophet (saas) is the prophet of the End Times. 1500 years has passed since the time of our Prophet (saas). Our Prophet (saas) tells, “if my communities go on the right path, Almighty Allah has given them one day, if they astray, He has given them half a day”. One day upon the command of Almighty Allah, told our Prophet (saas), one day is one thousand years in the Sight of Almighty Allah. However, the life span of my community is one and a half, that is 1500 years. We are now in the 1400s. There are 70 years left to the Day of Judgement We are so close. There are more signs. By taking refugee in Allah, may Allah makes us live through those signs in peace."

When Jibrael came in the form of a Badouin and asked the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم about Islam, then Emaan, and then Ihsaan, the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم answered him. but when Jibrael asked about the hour, the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said. "The one who is questioned does not have more knowledge about it than the questioner."
The predictions he makes about Qiyamah and also of Pervez Musharraf's future are Ilm al Ghayb and only Allah knows that. A human being should not speak such words. This is such a big sin that it is very near to Kufr.
Sheikh Kibrisi is getting very old now and we must give him the benefit of doubt for what he says. Perhaps he speaks through fading memory and therefore errors in his speech. It must be brought to the attention of the readers that the great Imams of the past graded Hadith for their authenticity upon the ages of the narrators as well. Some narrator has partly been accepted and partly rejected. For example, one such person when he was in Madina, the Imams took Ahadith from him whereas when he went to Iraq, the narrators classified Ahadith from him as weak because of his fading memory where he used to forget things. This does not make the person wrong in any way and ageing is a natural process in the control of Allah alone.
We must also bring to the attention of the readers that the word of the whole world combined cannot be greater than the word of Rasoolullah صلى الله عليه وسلم and making excuses of "secret spiritual world" in order to reject the Hadith and defend the person in error is an extreme injustice against oneself.
May Allah provide us the understanding of His deen and keep us away from fitna whether created willingly or by mistake.
Indeed, Allah knows the best.

Just to clear doubts from the mind of readers. I have biat on the hands of a shayikh. And i do believe and respect the right ones. Check their history. He has mentioned his Shaikh abdullah like a superman with so much praise that it seems after our Prophet ( peace be upon Him) sheikh abdullah is the most pious. The claims of extreme nonsense can be judge with open heart and little knowledge of ahaadeth.

DeleteThere is a criteria of judging and understanding the spirituality of any saint and that is Quran and Sunnah. A shaikh who claims to be the super saint, must be seen in the light of Sunnah. If any shaikh speaks against the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W, then that particular shaikh is Fitnah.. and i see that fitnah in Shaikh Nazim Kibrisi.
